Veterans Memorial

The Impact

With the excellent location off of I-90, this unique destination will be a great economic asset to our community. Luverne will have an opportunity to draw visitors locally, regionally, nationally and beyond.

This Veterans Memorial will be a great complement to our war museum downtown. Luverne & Rock County are known for a strong military presence and support.

This memorial will recognize the sacrifices of those in our armed forces, and will honor those who died on 9/11.

“Our state and nation have been blessed by those who answer the call for service to our nation! Honoring them and memorializing their sacrifices is but one small way we can ensure their endeavors will not be forgotten!”

-Larry Shellito, Former Commissioner
Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a one-of-a-kind Veterans Memorial honoring those who served, and educating future generations about these amazing people who sacrificed for our nation.

Visitors will witness the magnitude of sacrifices that have been made.

No other memorial has all the monuments this Veterans Memorial will have.

The Memorial

Included in the park-like setting will be a reflection pond, water features and a
Full-size replica of the Vietnam Wall.

In addition, there will be monuments listing:
• Those who died on 9/11
• Those killed in Iraq & Afghanistan
• Those killed in conflicts from 1979-2000

All monuments will be done in black granite.

An education center will contain an exhibit hall with displays to teach everyone about military subjects such as the Tuskegee Airmen, Indian Code Talkers, Agent Orange, PTSD, TBI, burn pits in Iraq & Afghanistan, and much more.

It will also house a chapel/meditation room, a computer/multi-purpose room, meeting room, and more. There are a number of possibilities for this building, including a command center to track numerous projects, video conferencing, and classes to teach students about the military or STEAM subjects.

In time, we would like to offer scholarships, internships, and tours.
