How To Set-Up a Run In Your Community
Line up a group of friends or an organized group that will do a run. The length of the run will be determined by the organizer.
Check with your local officials to see what permits are required in your area.
Most rallies choose a starting location (a bar or restaurant), with various stops along a designated route. Most businesses are very receptive to having bikers visit their establishments. Have a small group of people determine your route, check the route in advance to prevent issues with construction or other problems, and if necessary, have maps made up of your route. If your group has a road captain, they are very familiar with the necessary steps.
In Minnesota we are charging a flat $10 per rider registration fee. We are soliciting sponsorships to pay for the expenses of food, door prizes, advertising, etc. You may choose to obtain sponsors or charge a higher fee to cover your expenses. We want to make sure that $10 per rider will be donated to the rescue workers, please adjust your rates accordingly.
The organizer from each run will collect the funds, make sure that the $10 per rider is designated for Remember Rally, and will make out one money order to 'Remember Rally Inc.' . We want to make it clear that all of the funds are going to the rescue workers in New York. All checks will be sent to an address that is posted on the registration page of this website.
We want all groups to stress safety in their runs. Remember Rally is not liable for any accident or incident and each rider must carry their own insurance.
Do the appropriate advertising for your event. Use radio, newspapers, flyers, your local TV station or any other venue that is available. Publicity is important to get as many riders as possible. We are also asking people to take photos and/or video the day of the event if possible. If you take any video, don't be afraid to send a positive message to the rescue workers in New York. I have talked to some of these people and they are still extremely grateful and overwhelmed that people want to help them. Please hang on to any photos or video you have because we might be doing a special project with this information in the future.
On the day of the run have enough volunteers to help with the registration money, food, door prizes, poker run or however you have your event planned. Prior to the event, contact your local media to see if they will cover the event.
We encourage everyone to help spread the word about Remember Rally, the more runs we have, the more money we can donate. The physical and emotional healthcare needs for the rescue workers will continue for many years to come.
Thanks so much for organizing a run in your area!
Remember Rally, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
